Nature provides everything the body needs

Food is medicinal and therapeutic

Food has powerful disease–protecting and therapeutic effects.
Throughout our lives our bodies are being filled with a variety of disease and cancer causing pollutants. These toxins reach us through the air we breathe, the food we eat, the medicines we take and the water we drink.  Being able to follow a healthy detoxifying diet is absolutely necessary to recover from and reverse degenerative diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and most common cancers.

A proper diet will naturally reactivate the body's own ability to heal itself.  Our dietary recommendations are based on the specific dietary recommendations for a person's individual body type as per Ayuveda guidelines and food preparation methods for preparing medicinal food.   Many of the dietary guidelines from "The Gerson Therapy," which has a 60 year history of success are also incorporated for disease reversal.

Although the philosophy of properly nourishing the body is simple, defining the proper diet for each person's current health condition and physical constitution is a complex process.  While many people have made a full recovery by dramatically changing their diet on their own, for best results a well planed and systematic process needs to be followed.  We work with a Naturopath and a Nutritionist to customize a diet to each person's nutritional requirements and overall constitution.

It is rare to find cancer, arthritis, or other degenerative diseases in cultures considered "primitive" by Western civilization. Is it because of diet? The fact that degenerative diseases appear in these cultures only when modern packaged foods and additives are introduced would certainly support that idea.

"Stay close to nature and its eternal laws will protect you."
– Dr. Max Gerson

A truly healthy diet must be micronutrient rich and the micronutrient richness must be adjusted to meet individual needs and body type.
In general, our diet seeks to regenerate the body and support each important metabolic requirement by flooding the body with nutrients from organically grown fruits and vegetables daily.  Raw and cooked solid foods are generously consumed.  Consequently, oxygenation is usually more than doubled, as oxygen deficiency in the blood contributes to many degenerative diseases. The metabolism is also stimulated through the addition of potassium and other natural supplements, and by avoiding animal fats, excess protein, sodium and other toxins.

Ultimately, with generous, high-quality nutrition, increased oxygen availability, detoxification, and improved metabolism, the cells - and the body - can regenerate. To ensure reliable results, we meticulously provide fresh juices and meals during your Natural Healing Retreat.

After your body transitions to a new diet it will lose its desire to consume processed and fatty food within a couple weeks; and by 28 days the brain forms new neurological connections that constitute new habits! After your retreat, we provide the education and tools to help you continue juicing and eating properly on your own.

Generally speaking, our diet recommendations are naturally high in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, micro-nutrients, and extremely low in sodium and fats, and rich in fluids.  We recommend consuming a wide range of foods to gain a broad array of micronutrients via food.

"Our lives are not in the lap of the gods, but in the lap of our cooks."
– Lin Yutang

The quality of a diet can be judged based on three simple criteria.

  1. Levels of micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, photochemicals) per calorie.
  2. Amounts of macronutrients (fat, carbohydrate, protein) to meet individual needs, without excessive calories that may lead to weight gain or health compromise.
  3. Avoidance of potentially toxic substances (such as trans fats) and limited amounts of other potentially harmful substances.
